Privacy Policy

Astrology needs some of the most personal details you have: when and where you were born. We take that seriously. This policy explains, in plain words, what AstroChart collects, why, who else sees it, how long we keep it and what you can do about it.

Who we are

AstroChart is operated by Panicle Tech Private Limited (India), under the ColadAI brand. It includes the AstroChart mobile app, this website (astrochart.coladai.com), the API that the app talks to, and an admin panel used by our staff.

What we collect and why

Birth details are sensitive personal information. We use them only to provide the features described below.

Your account

If you create an account we collect your email, your name (optional) and a password. The password is stored only as a salted bcrypt hash, never in readable form. After you sign in, a login token is kept in your phone’s secure storage. We use this to sign you in and to save your history.

Birth details you enter

For each kundli or match we store:

  • the person’s name or nickname;
  • the date, time and place of birth, with the place’s coordinates and time zone;
  • an optional relationship label, such as self, spouse or parent;
  • the calculated chart, stored together with those details.

We use these to show and save your charts and matches. If you enter another person’s details, you are responsible for having the right to do so.

If you use the app without an account (guests)

On first launch the app creates a random anonymous install ID. Kundlis and matches made without an account are saved on our server under that ID, so you can reopen them on that phone. Each install can keep at most 30 guest kundlis and 30 guest matches.

Guest data is deleted automatically after 180 days, unless the person signs up or logs in. In that case it is moved into the account.

Usage data

For every request the app makes to our API we record the time, the type of request, the result status, the app version, the platform (iOS or Android), and the anonymous install ID or account ID. The type of request is a route pattern such as “view a kundli”, never the values in it.

We do not record request contents, passwords, locations typed into searches, or IP addresses in our application database.

We use this to understand how many people use the app and which features, to keep it reliable and to prevent abuse.

On your device

The app keeps your anonymous install ID, your chosen Panchang location and your login token (in secure storage) on your phone.

Hosting and infrastructure

Our hosting and database providers may keep standard technical logs, such as IP addresses, as part of running their services.

Third parties, and what we do not use

Place search. When you type a city, our server sends that text to the OpenStreetMap Nominatim service, with Photon by Komoot as a fallback, to find the coordinates and time zone. Our server makes the request, so we do not pass your IP address on.

Astrology. Astrological calculations run on our own servers using open-source libraries. No astrology data goes to third parties.

We show no advertising and use no ad SDKs and no analytics SDKs. We do not sell or rent personal data.

When we share data

We share personal data only:

  • with service providers who host or run our systems;
  • when the law requires it;
  • to protect rights and safety.

How long we keep data

  • Account data: until you delete your account. You can delete any kundli or match at any time in the app. Deleting your account permanently deletes it, with all its kundlis and matches.
  • Guest data: 180 days, as described above.
  • Detailed usage log: deleted after 90 days. Deleting an account removes its account ID from the log.
  • Per-day visitor markers (an anonymous ID plus a date): kept for up to 400 days.
  • Aggregated daily counts: these contain no personal data and are kept.

Your rights and choices

Under India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, and other applicable law, you can ask to access your data, correct it, erase it, withdraw your consent, have a grievance addressed, and nominate someone to exercise these rights for you.

In the app you can delete a chart, delete a match, and delete your account (in Profile). For anything else, write to us using the details in the Contact section below. We will respond within a reasonable period, as required by law.

Security

Data travels over HTTPS. Passwords are hashed. Login tokens sit in your phone’s secure storage. Access to the admin panel is restricted to authorised staff.

No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot promise absolute security.

Children

AstroChart is intended for people aged 18 and over.

Changes to this policy

We will post the new version on this page and update the date at the top. For material changes we will also tell users in the app.
