How does kundli matching work?
Ashtakoota Guna Milan compares the Moon sign and nakshatra of the boy and the girl on eight factors (kootas) worth 36 points in all. AstroChart shows the score of each koota, not only the total, and also checks Mangal Dosha, Nadi Dosha and Bhakoot Dosha for both people.
How many gunas should match for marriage?
Traditionally fewer than 18 of 36 is not recommended, 18 to 24 is average, 25 to 32 is good and above 32 is excellent. The total is only one part: doshas, and the 7th house, Venus and Jupiter in each chart, also matter, and they are shown in the report.
Can I match kundli by name only?
A real Guna Milan needs the Moon’s nakshatra, which comes from the date, time and place of birth. Matching by name alone guesses the nakshatra from the first letter of the name, so it is not used here.
What is Mangal Dosha (Manglik)?
Mangal Dosha is traditionally present when Mars sits in the 1st, 2nd, 4th, 7th, 8th or 12th house of the chart. Several classical rules cancel it, for example when both people have it. The report says whether it is present, cancelled or absent for each person.
